Developmental Editing
The Big-Picture Edit
Before we can fix grammar or punctuation, the story has to be solid. No use cleaning up a scene that needs to be cut.
Here’s how it works:
1. I go through your manuscript twice, leaving in-text comments on plot, character, structure, theme, point of view, and other big-picture elements.
2. You get an editorial letter outlining the manuscript’s strengths and weaknesses as well as a 60-minute call to discuss feedback and next steps.
The developmental edit is much more detailed than a manuscript evaluation. It’s ideal for authors who need a more hands-on approach in identifying what’s wrong with their story and how to improve it.
Want to make sure we’re a good fit? Contact me for a sample edit!
In a developmental sample, I look at your first 30 pages and leave in-text comments on the big-picture elements. The sample lets you see my editing on your work, and it lets me see if we’re a good fit. If we are, I can tell you how much the editing will cost and how long it will take.
